AI Automation Engineer
Give client teams their hours back and stop enquiries going cold, with custom workflows across sales, CRMs, call handling and back office.

Hours
20 to 40 hours a week
Start
When a client automation build is signed. We are building our contractor bench ahead of client work, so we will not promise volume. Contract to start, with the option to go permanent if it goes well.

What you will do
- Take the re-keying and chasing off a client's team: enquiries routed in minutes, quotes chased, CRMs updated without anyone copying details across.
- Sit with the person who does the job today, time it, and agree the figure your build will be measured against.
- Connect the systems clients already pay for, in code: CRMs, shared inboxes, calendars, accounts packages and phone lines.
- Run a pilot where a person approves every output, then let the workflow take the simple cases once it is accurate.
- Build for the bad day: logging, retries, alerts, and a clear way to replay or undo a run that went wrong.
Must-haves
- You have shipped production automations in code, ideally TypeScript or Python, that a real team relies on, and you can walk us through one.
- You are at home with APIs, webhooks, auth and messy data, and you have met the quirks of real CRMs and accounts packages.
- You have put LLM steps into live workflows with guardrails, and you know when a plain rule beats a model.
- You explain a workflow to a business owner in plain English and ship it in slices, not one big launch.
- You work remotely with dependable overlap on UK hours.
Nice-to-haves
- Voice or telephony work: call routing, transcripts and post-call actions.
- Enough Next.js to put a small operator dashboard beside a workflow.
- Back-office integrations with UK accounts packages such as Xero or Sage.
